About Our Hiring Process

  • Applications are accepted online only. All jobs are posted on our website and on Indeed.com.
  • Once an application has been submitted online, an auto-generated email will be sent to the email address you provide confirming that we have received your application. If you exit out of the application prior to completion, you will receive an email reminding you to complete your application. Incomplete applications will prevent you from being considered for the position you are wishing to apply. Please check your email's spam or junk folders to ensure that you are receiving communications from the City.
  • We respectfully ask that you do not call for an update on your application. Should you be selected to participate in the interview process, we will be happy to discuss the position with you in greater detail. Please be sure to check your email regularly after you've applied for a position.
  • All applications received by the published closing date will be initially screened by the Human Resources Office and/or department to determine whether the applicants' qualifications meet the basic requirements for the position.
  • Based on this process, the department will identify the top applicants to undergo additional screening. These additional screening processes will evaluate such factors as background; knowledge; education; professional certifications; previous experience; and aptitude. Depending on the type of position, this screening process may include, but not be limited to, any or all of the following:
    • Written tests or questions
    • Assessment center
    • Physical agility test
    • Personality assessments
    • Oral interviews
    • Reference checks
    • Driver license check
    • Background investigation, including police record check
    • Education verification
    • Credit Check
    • Other methods which assist in evaluating an applicant's abilities and qualifications.
  • The candidate who most closely meets all the position requirements and the needs of the City will be selected as the final candidate for employment. Final candidates selected for full-time positions will be issued a written conditional offer of employment from the respective Department Head after consultation with the Human Resources Office and with final approval granted by the City Manager.
  • Candidates must successfully pass/complete the conditions of employment before an official start date be set.
  • Full-time positions generally are 40 hours per week. Part-time and seasonal positions work less than 1,456 hours per year and offer limited benefits.
